Counting Our Chickens Before They've Hatched...

I'm not usually the type to do this, count my chickens before they have hatched and consider things a sure thing that is.

That said, I was so sure L would get promoted to SSgt and he'd formally be offered the job we're after....as it transpired he didn't get promoted. Being the suspicious person that I am - you say paranoid I maintain suspicious - I would have squinted my eyes and turned my suspicions toward his boss. That would make sense since L still has a pending complaint against him and so many people have mentioned how much he dislikes L (got to love men for gossiping, because you know it's only us women that like to partake of this idle pass time...) Yet, L wasn't the only one not to be promoted: no air crewmen were.

As per usual rumours and speculation are rife...this part of the military have had a falling out with this one (seriously, apparently PGCE students aren't the only ones who haven't learnt to share the red crayon!) and they don't want them on their camp doing this job...I swear I am surrounded by children! Worse, these so-called adultchildren are usually give the responsibility of a large weapon...and I don't mean their brains.

Scathing sarcasm aside I was certain L would be promoted and he would be offered that job, formally...so I've been guilty of counting my chickens before they've hatched *sigh* I'm really disappointed for him...not just because he's my husband and I think he deserves to be promoted, nor because the money would come in handy. No, actually I'm disappointed because he is has integrity and he is constantly being taken advantage of. L wasn't around when mother nature was giving out the ability to spot machiavellian individuals:he was most definitely still at the back playing with the Lego (he loves Lego), which thus means he has zero ability to spot conniving, manipulating and devious individuals who only work to their own agenda. Zero.

I know nothing has been 'officially' decided in terms of postings and jobs etc, but I hesitate to be confident again, my instincts just won't let me.

Giving up is starting to look like the best option...

I am trying to write a report for university on the challenges and solutions of a Literacy Subject Leader. My focus is the underachievement of boys in writing. A really interesting subject but it is just not flowing.

Which means I feel like this....

And the more I try to force the flow the more I start to feel like this...

Whilst the deadline isn't until 24th April I don't want this hanging over me, all too often on this course I've handed work in with the ink virtually still wet.

And the more I think that and the more this essay won't flow to me the more I am starting to feel like this....

The closer that deadline looms the more I am starting to look like this picture too!

Wednesday Wonderings

I've not actually been pondering much lately. At least nothing remotely entertaining, my mind has been preoccupied with 'adult' things *how dull*

Why do men have to ask questions when you're in the middle of watching something?

And to add to the above when you pause it to explain or answer one of their many questions, why do they then insist you don't need to BUT still ask questions?

Why is the waiting game the hardest one to play and why aren't there any winners?

Why does toast always land butter side down?

Why is my hair currently doing its own thing and making me look bedraggled?

Did L and his friend Easy really add milk to their fruit teas and wonder why it tasted so disgusting? hahahaha so wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they did this! Hahaha

Why does L laugh at me so much?

Why have I STILL not started my Masters level assignment? Ugh Natasha. You never learn.

Was cutting my own fringe really a good idea? Erm no, like you had to ask.

Why can I feel myself retreating into myself again? *sigh*

Why, when you have to make a choice are these choices always stacked up against each other to put you between the proverbial rock and a hard place?

Who has stolen my battered sheep slippers? They are about the only thing that I still hold on to out of sentimental attachment. It's a weird story.

Why do companies who are cold calling you withhold their numbers? Common sense tells you if you see a private number on your mobile it's a cold call and chances are you're not going to answer.
